Immediately after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated New Orleans in 2005, Jim Crosby responded and spent a month on-site working with the animal rescuers there.  Jim assisted with field rescue and established a safe containment and management system for his shelter.  He then worked with the stressed, traumatized and fearful animal victims of this disaster.  Jim developed a protocol for assessing and treating the disaster dogs' behavior.  Many animals which would have otherwise been destroyed as aggressive or dangerous were rehabilitated and sent on to successful fostering and adoption.

Jim's protocol is based on clear communications and the establishment of a working relationship with the dog.  This is not "whispering", ESP, or magic-it can be taught to and used by animals rescuers and professionals anywhere.

Jim is available to teach his Disaster Dog assessment and treatment program to any interested group.  Please call Jim to set up a training session for your Animal Control agency, local Humane organization, or Rescue volunteers.
